Instant Pot IP-DUO60 Pressure Cooker, 6.33-Quart/1000-watt Review

Product Review: Instant Pot IP-DUO60 Pressure Cooker

Company: Amazon via seller Instant Pot

Price Range: $125-$150

Discount: Save over 20% at Amazon

Features:
  • Absolutely Safe Design
  • 7 Programmed Cooking Functions
  • Stainless Steel Cooking Bowl
Pros:

Set it and forget it with the Instant Pot IP-DUO60 Pressure Cooker thanks to the digital pressure cooking technology. Do not fear pressure build ups, the Instant Pot is engineered with ten safety valves within it to prevent any sort of malfunction. Along with this, the Instant Pot can be set for any one of the 14 cooking programs to perfectly cook a wide variety of food. After cooking completes the Instant Pot will switch over to a keep warm function. Perfect for setting up a meal hours ahead of time and coming back to a piping hot dish cooked to perfection.

Efficiency and energy savings are the key to pressure cooking. Compared to boiling food on stove top, pressure cookers only need a third of the time and energy required to cook food just as well as a boiling pot. With electronic pressure cookers, the science is even greater as electricity operates at greater precision and lower cost than traditional pressure cooking done on the range. Save on time and money with the Instant Pot.

Now cook with low pressure and high pressure in the Instant Pot IP-DUO60 Pressure Cooker. Previous models lacked the availability of low pressure cooker settings. With DUO models, now it is possible to easily cook delicate foods. One major default of previous Instant Pot models was that soft skin vegetables tended to get mushy from the steaming function. Now you can retain a slight crunch to your vegetables while still cooking them fully.

Clean up is easy with the Instant Pot. Cooking in a stainless steel cooking pot makes for an elegant design no less, but even easier to wash up after cooking. Simply wash out any larger piece of leftovers and throw it in the dishwasher. Unlike many rice cookers, issues with starchy buildups never plague Instant Pot models. The sheer size of the cooking pot makes it difficult to even cook the maximum capacity of food possible in the Instant Pot. Much less water is required in pressure cooking compared to the boiling that accompanies rice cookers.

Cons:

For anyone that already owns a previous model of Instant Pot, the added functions to the Instant Pot IP-DUO60 Pressure Cooker does not warrant an upgrade. Low and high pressure is certainly appealing, but delicate items will only be a minority of items cooked in the pressure cooker. A porridge function is included in this model of pressure cooker which is nice, but manual pressure cooking can be easily done on older models.

The big sales point of the third generation of pressure cookers is the yogurt making option. It could be possible to make soy milk yogurt in this model of pressure cooker if a fat is added. Consider using a soy milk maker to make homemade soy milk, find my review here.

Overall though, for anyone lacking an Instant Pot, this newest model would be worth a purchase versus older models.

Guarantee:

Instant Pot offers a one year warranty on all of its products to cover any defects in workmanship free of charge. This does not apply to normal wear and tear, only defects that would have come up on the manufacturer's side.

The Instant Pot company is extremely customer friendly. If any issue were to come up, feel free to contact the company in order to resolve an issue. Instant Pot takes pride in the quality of its product and the happiness it delivers to its customers.

The Amazon A-Z Guarantee is the best guarantee in the market. In the event that the product is not delivered, delivered in a broken condition, or is not meeting the quality expectations of the buyer, the item may be returned to Amazon for a full refund. A 30 day window exists to file a claim to Amazon over any problem that may come up with the product.

Value for money?

No product better services my kitchen than the Instant Pot (excluding knives of course). The ability to digitally cook food items is the way of the future. Efficiency and cost savings that accompany pressure cooking are even more forward thinking. Having the peace of mind knowing that food is cooking on its own and will be ready for my consumption when the timer begins beeping is of extreme value for a busy person. For anyone no longer wanting to slave away above the stove to prevent food from burning, the Instant Pot is the clear winner. Overall, I give the Instant Pot IP-DUO60, 5/5 Stars.

Instant Pot IP-LUX60 6-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cooker, 6.33-Quart Review

Product Review: Instant Pot IP-LUX60 Pressure Cooker

Company: Amazon via seller Instant Pot

Price Range: $115-$150

Discount: Save Up to 30% at Amazon

Features:
  • Stainless Steel Cooking Pot
  • Set It, and Forget It Cooking Functions
  • Safety is a Guarantee
Pros:

Pressure cooking has become beyond simple thanks to the Instant Pot company. The stigma of associated with pressure cooking and its danger has been overblown by the media in recent times. In reality, cooking with pressure has been an incredibly safe way to cook food for the past sixty years. What has stumped home cooks is the science behind pressure cooking versus simple boiling of food. The Instant Pot IP-LUX60 6-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cooker, 6.33-Quart simplifies everything by cooking food electronically through digital programs.

All that is required for an electronic pressure cooker is an electrical outlet. No range is required, just plug it in and begin the cooking process. What makes electronic pressure cooking the best way to cook is the efficiency of the system. Food will literally cook in a fraction of the time, usually being fully cooked in 1/3 of the time required for stove top cooking. Along with getting food cooked fast, the electronic cookers use electricity at 1/3 of the rate of an electronic range. This translates into electricity and gas bill savings each time you choose to use the Instant Pot.

The beauty of pressure cooking is that a plethora of foods can be cooked using pressure. Electronic pressure cooking is no different. Preprogrammed settings on the Instant Pot IP-LUX60 6-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cooker allow for making soups, beans, chili, rice, steamed vegetables, grains, and slow cooked foods beyond easy for the vegan cook. It does not just stop there though, the Instant Pot allows for manual programming so any food that has been traditionally cooked through boiling food can be switched over to pressure cooking.

Always a quick cleanup when using the Instant Pot IP-LUX60 Pressure Cooker. Unlike many rice cookers, the Instant Pot is made of stainless steel. This material is even easier to clean up than non-stick aluminum. One of the big problems tied to rice cookers is the issue of starchy buildups boiling over. This is next to impossible with the Instant Pot. The size of the cooking container is larger than rice cookers, making it very difficult to overload the system. Simply rinse out the stainless steal cooking container in the sink with soap and water, and either put it in the dishwasher or clean out with a sponge.

Cons:

Be aware of proportions when using the Instant Pot. Unless you are steaming vegetables, this machine is made to cook a full meal for two or more people. This can be a problem when making grain and rice dishes. When wanting to just make a single serving, you will often come up with making a soupy mess. This can be easily resolved by adding more grains. All this will do is make more food than one person can eat. If you have a problem with eating leftovers, then get a friend to help you eat all the great food made in abundance.

Value for money?

The Instant Pot IP-LUX60 6-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cooker, 6.33-Quart is an absolute steal for the money. Retail prices for most stove top pressure cookers are at least $50 more than the Instant Pot, and they don't even cook your food for you. An electronic pressure cooker that saves on time and electricity costs makes sense in every aspect for the home cook. Overall, I give the Instant Pot IP-LUX60 a total of 5/5 stars.
